The Academy

Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (PJAIT) was founded in 1994 following the agreement between the governments of Poland and Japan. Until 2014 it was called Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology. The change of name is the result of an increase in the school’s academic offer, especially the fact that it now grants a doctor’s degree in two disciplines (computer science and mechanics) and the degree of habilitated doctor (doctor habilitowany) in the field of computer science. The main campus is located in the very centre of Warsaw, near the underground station Śródmieście, Central Railway Station and other transport hubs. The Academy has a branch in Gdańsk and the Research and Development Centre in Bytom. PJAIT’s educational offer comprises IT (computer science) studies both in Polish and in English (Faculty of Information Technology), information management studies (Faculty of Information Management), cultural studies (Faculty of Culture of Japan), studies in graphic arts both in Polish and English and interior design (Faculty of New Media Arts). There are also numerous postgraduate courses and study programmes. We grant degrees of bachelor, engineer, master, doctor and habilitated doctor.

The lecturers working at the Academy are outstanding specialists – theoreticians and practitioners from Poland and abroad. PJAIT has cooperation agreements with many academic centres in Europe, Japan, the USA and Australia. Thanks to that our students can participate in student exchange programmes and gain additional expertise and experience studying in another country for some time.

Our campuses boast modern facilities, dedicated computer, graphic arts workshops and project labs. We also organize meetings with scientists, artists, innovators and representatives of business. Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology pays special attention to adjusting its educational offer to the requirements and expectations of the job market, taking into account the standards of education in the EU and new developments in information techniques and their applications.

Our students value the practical approach to curriculum and teaching, which give them an edge over other candidates on the job market and a good position in the workplace..

The proof of our professionalism and quality teaching are the awards and recognition in the major ranking lists. The Academy has always appeared at the top of most classifications.

PJAIT supports students interests, especially profession- or research-related. There are special interest groups, sports groups, even the academic choir. Students are required to complete an internship, and the best often do paid internships in prestigious companies. Career Office at PJAIT helps students and graduates find jobs, conducts assessment sessions and workshops with employers.

Students who have very good grades can apply for the Rector’s scholarships. During the enrolment process, students may also be granted fee reductions in the first semester for outstanding Matura (school leaving exam) results Owing to agreements with such software giants as ArchiCad, Autodesk, Microsoft, SAP, SAS, Vmware, students of PJAIT can download applications and systems necessary for the completion of their academic projects.
